Follow your passion for the ocean

The Bachelor of Science with a specialisation in Marine Systems is taught at the National Marine Science Centre (NMSC) in Coffs Harbour, just metres from the beach, and online. The course combines marine science with contemporary management concepts and has a focus on conservation issues in both coastal and marine ecosystems, with a strong practical component.

Students can learn to use drone technology as well as spatial mapping and underwater sampling techniques. They also have the option to go on study adventures and snorkel or dive in the Solitary Islands Marine Parks.

I want to ensure a future for the world's marine resources

"I've always loved the ocean and my interest turned into a passion. A highlight has been the chance to take place in leading research and visit some spectacular locations, working alongside like-minded people."

Why study at Southern Cross University?

At Southern Cross University we're always looking for a better way to do things, that's why we created 'The Southern Cross Model'. By dividing the academic year into six-week terms, with a maximum of two subjects per term, students are better able to focus, dive deeply into the subject matter and really learn. The content is highly interactive, with real-world applications; and it leaves more time for the other things you love.
